Lloyd aleman norte was founded in 1857 by the regrouping of four small companies. It began between Bremen and London with six vapors from 500 tons. The transatlantic voyages towards New York started in June 1858; Baltimore in March 1868; and in 1869 New-Orleans. A service towards the Central America was instituted in 1871 then was withdrawn in 1874.
