The idea of Aquitania was born between the competition from White Star Line and Cunard Line since 1910.

It accomplishes its first voyage on May 30, 1914 from Liverpool to New York, after being launched in April 1913. Surnomné the “de luxe hotel floating”, Aquitania was probably one of the most luxurious boats of its time.

After only three return tickets, Aquitania is seized for the effort of war where it became a ship hospital.

As of the years 1930, Cunard Line had envisaged to replace Aquitania, growing old, by Queen Elizabeth, which was planned for 1940. But the beginning of the Second world war put an end to this plan. Aquitania served as excellent ship of transport of troops. It then crossed the sphere during its missions.

In 1949, the steamer is returned in Cunard, which sells it with the demolition in 1950 in Scotland, finishing a famous career. He will have traversed 3 million miles and will have accomodated thousands of passengers.
